Stimulus Funding: Deviant Homsexuality & Even Porn

Where are your tax dollars going? To Nancy Pelosi's district. For what? The funding of homosexuality and porn. The following comes from an email from the Family Research Council:

Despite the questionable impact of the first stimulus package, there is actually discussion of a second stimulus package. So far, the states have spent roughly 10 percent of the $787 billion package, but it has yet to register on the "recovery" radar. In fact, the only thing that seems to have changed is the unemployment rate--and not in the direction the President had hoped.

Given where the money's been directed, maybe none of us should be surprised. Mark Kelly of the Heritage Foundation did some digging on where the House Speaker funneled her District's dollars, and the list of projects is enough to send taxpayers through the roof. Let me put it this way: Nancy Pelosi is trying to stimulate a lot more than San Francisco's economy. While the average American is worried about losing his shirt, Congress is funding actors who aren't wearing any!

According to Kelly, $50,000 was sent to an initiative called CounterPulse in San Francisco that just sponsored a "Perverts [Sleep Around]" event on July 25, urging people to "Join your fellow pervs for some explicit, twisted fun!" Another $50,000 went directly to an entertainment group called Frameline that concentrates on promoting the "lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community" in the arts.

Over at "San Francisco Cinematheque," organizers raked in $25,000 to promote documentaries like "Thundercrack," of which a reviewer writes, "Witness if you dare, the world's only underground kinky art porno horror film, complete with four men, three women and a gorilla." A company called Jess Curtis/Gravity, Inc. will receive $25,000, presumably to help boost their Symmetry Project, which features nude couples in compromising positions.

Other programs are too crude and embarrassing to even mention. But shouldn't that say something to the third most powerful leader in America? If these projects are too obscene to talk about, what business does the U.S. government have funding them? This isn't just waste--it's reckless, indecent garbage sponsored by Congress and paid for by you. If these are the priorities of America's new leadership, then we should definitely get a second opinion on their vision for an issue as significant as health care. Porn - What's the Harm?

If you have never questioned whether porn is harmful, or if you believe porn is harmful but can't really articulate why, watch this! Porn is ironically anti-sex.

National Education Association: Not Just for Same-Sex Marriage but Also Against Conservatives

The stated mission of the National Education Association is "to advocate for education professionals and to unite our members and the nation to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world." If success in a diverse world entails respecting others, surely the NEA is failing. The following, which I directly quote from an email from the Capitol Resource Institute, illustrates how the NEA is not just for same-sex marriage but also against conservatives:

The National Education Association's retiring General Counsel, Bob Chanin, insulted conservatives in his last address to NEA's highest decision-making body. He made this comment after naming many organizations and publications that, in his view, negatively target NEA.

"Why are these conservative and right-wing ba-----s picking on NEA and its affiliates?" he said.

Chanin served as NEA's leading lawyer for 41 years, during which time he said the organization grew from a "conservative, apolitical, do-nothing organization" into a powerful liberal union. He was addressing more than 8,000 delegates at the annual NEA Representative Assembly.

"Picking on" NEA included an IRS audit during the Bush administration; a lawsuit filed by the Right to Work Committee, alleging misuse of union fees; charges of financial malpractice from the Heritage Foundation; and media coverage by The Wall Street Journal and Forbes Magazine.

The delegates responded to Chanin's seven letter description of conservatives with about 15 seconds of laughter and applause, which he interrupted to answer his own question.

"It is the price we pay for success," Chanin said.

"NEA and its affiliates have been singled out because they are they most effective unions in the United States. And they are the nation's leading advocates for public education, and the type of liberal, social, and economic agenda that these groups find unacceptable," he continued.

Among other things, NEA's agenda "defended gay and lesbian rights," he said.

"The more we said and did, the more we ----ed people off," he said, to laughter and applause.

His speech made clear what many have claimed: that NEA is pushing a liberal agenda, without much tolerance or respect for the millions of parents who disagree.

Whether the issue is same-sex marriage or economics, the liberal mindset is now a core part of NEA's identity. It is also a core part of the identity that this union wants students to have.

NEA is a heavyweight influence in the education and political communities. It writes sample lesson plans for teachers, puts together guidebooks for schools on how to deal with parent-child relationships, spends millions to influence legislation, and much more.

One of its slogans is "great public schools for every student," but Chanin said that the most important point in his speech had to do with union power.

"We have power because there are more than 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues each year, because they believe that we are the union that can most effectively represent them" as education employees, he said.

The audience gave him a standing ovation.

Chanin further said that educational goals "need not and must not be achieved at the expense of due process, employee rights, and collective bargaining. That simply is too high a price to pay."

His liberal approach to employment is apparently one cause for his disrespect toward conservatives.

NEA did not respond to a request for comment.

Safeguarding Yourself, Your Partner, and Your Marriage: Principles to Discussing Pornography in Dating and Beyond

Nearly 70% of college-aged men and 10% of college-aged women have viewed pornography in the last month. This would not be a problem if pornography was benign. Yet, pornography is not benign. Pornography encourages unhealthy and distorted views about sexuality, such as the belief that sex is nothing more than a physical, recreational activity and that reserving sexual relationships for marriage is unrealistic. It increases the risk of becoming sexually dissatisfied with your partner and even cheating on your partner. Over 50% of divorces involve one spouse having an excessive interest in internet pornography.

If you are like many other people that are in a serious relationship, you are justifiably concerned about whether your partner is using pornography. You have the prerogative to know whether your partner is using pornography, for a partner’s pornography use will affect you.

The Women’s Services and Resources Center at Brigham Young University recently asked me to write an article about discussing pornography in dating. The article addresses the reasons for discussing pornography in a relationship, what things you should discuss, and how and when you should discuss them. I encourage you to read it to help safeguard yourself, your partner, and your marriage from pornography.

Welcome to "Perspective: Faith, Freedom, Family."

The issues of faith, freedom, and family are increasingly debated and changing in society today. As these issues are of interest and concern to me, I decided to start this blog. The blog will provide a conservative and spiritual perspective on contemporary issues affecting faith, freedom, and family. I also will post writings and research on topics related to faith, family, and freedom that I believe others may find of interest or that I believe others ought to hear.
